Tom started his career as a machinist in high school, and went on to work for Kollmorgen Electro Optical in the early eighties.
While working at Kollmorgen, he took a position in the optics department, which led to working for Liebmann Optical in 1989. While there, Tom worked under Roland Liebmann, a trained German Master Optician, who trained him in making spherical optics and much more. After working for Mr. Liebmann for the past two and a half decades, he and Glenn Gilbert co-founded Pioneer Precision Optics, Inc. (PPO) in Florence, Massachusetts in 2013. Today, Tom and Glenn continue to manufacture high precision spherical optical components, using methods they learned from Roland Liebmann, and their many years in the trade.

Glenn trained in the art of precision lens manufacturing under the supervision of Roland Liebmann, who received his Master’s Degree in Optics from Karl Zeiss in Germany.
He began his apprenticeship in 1982, and worked with Mr. Liebmann for 20 years. He has now been in the trade for 32 years.
Glenn was trained in all aspects of Spherical Lens Manufacturing, on parts ranging from 0.5mm to 254mm diameters. This includes grinding, polishing, centering, cementing, assembly, inspection and metrology.
In more recent years, Glenn's responsiblities included Shop Supervisor, Production Manager, Production Planning and Production Engineering.
